The rude fool

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،

الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وأصحابه ومن تبعهم إلى يوم الدين وبعد

The feeling of Khushoo’ shot threw my bones as I stood in Salaatul ‘Ishaa. The words of Allaah echoed through the entire masjid, and the meaning hit me as if a careless construction worker dropped a pile of bricks on me as I walked past his construction site. The sad recitation brought tears to my eyes and caused my joints to tremble. One cannot describe the feeling of the immense fear of Allaah during the Salaah, something rarely felt by us who do not feel the effects of sins upon our hearts. As the beautiful speech of Allaah caused my heart to tremble and me to realize all which I owe to my Creator… I hear beside me: “BURRRRPPP” and then the smell of this mans digesting dinner pollutes the air.

Ok… a minor distraction… back to the Salaah after holding my breath for a few seconds. Then I hear “YAAAAWWWWWWNNN” and from the corner of my eye I see what reminds me of a Hippopotamus opening it’s mouth wide and making a loud noise. I was surprised that the sound didnt reach the microphone considering I was right behind the Imaam.

Ok… another minor distraction… But it started a snow ball effect for that Khabeeth Shaytaan. Suddenly it seemed like everyone had become sick during the Salaah. It sounded like I was in a hospital ward filled with dying patients. Then it seemed that everyone happened to be receiving a call at the same time.

Why are people so inconsiderate of others during the Salaah? When I was sick and kept coughing I would hold my cough as much as I can until after the Salaah as to not distract the people around me. Why don’t people silence their cell phones even though there are big signs informing us to keep our phones OFF during Salaah. And if it DOES go off, why dont people turn it off or hang that call up? I’ve watched people let their phones ring with the voice of Shaytaan and they wont even reach to hang that call up.

I remember one time praying in a Masjid in America during Jumu’ah and someone’s nextel accepted a call and as we went into Sujood we heard a girl yelling at the person to pick up the phone. What struck me was that no one said anything about this after the salaah. Alhamdulillaah here when a phone went off with the voice of Shaytaan the Imaam said: ((يا صاحب الجوال اغلق جوالك هذا أفضل لك O Owner of the Phone, turn your phone off, this is better for you))

  1. Nothing could be bad as the kids at the masjid here. It’s as though the parents think it’s normal for children to behave like that.

I wonder, do you still see Hanafee Prayer in the Sharqiyyah?

  2. Well there are Ahnaaf here but they arent as bad as the ones I saw in the states. Like these guys wont kick you in Salaah if you connect the lines. And they dont dance in the salaah like those ones we saw.

I mean you’ll see some strange Salawaat but not as bad as what we’ve seen. Alhamdulillaah I’ve never been physically fought in Salaah here like I was in the states.
