Today was the first time I walked to Jaami’ al-Hidaayah for Fajr. It’s a 7 minute walk, that doesnt seem far but considering that the closest Masjid to me is about 2 minutes away and the next closest is about 5 mintues, it’s farther from me. I never noticed the loneliness during this time. I usually go to this Masjid for Ishaa since the recitation is really one which causes you to feel the Khushoo’ (humility) in your Salaah.
But this time, it was empty on the way there. I didnt see a single person walking outside, a few cars but that’s about it. I came to this sad realization that many people don’t go to the Masjid for Jamaa’ah yet the Masjid is right there! Whichever direction you walk there is a Masjid. The streets were so empty that you could cross without even looking left or right (which is still stupid to do). Usually you’ll play frogger trying to cross the street.
In the Masjid there was about 2 full lines (which will probably fill one regular size Masjid in America). But compared to the population surrounding the Masaajid, it’s quite a shame.
You can start to see why the best time for standing in the Salaah (qiyaam al Layl) is before the Fajr, every one is too busy sleeping in this time where the Du’aa is raised to Allaah.
Allaahu musta’aan. This is darut tawheed. Don’t the general people know of Bin Baaz’s fatwa regarding when there is a masjid available nearby?
