السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وأصحابه ومن تبعهم إلى يوم الدين وبعد
So it was an iftaar and the Local MSA at this community college had decided to have an “Imaam” of a local Masjid speak. The Imaam himself was a revert of African American Origin. His arabic was terrible yet he was the head of the “Luga” foundation of the strain of Masaajid in the area as he said. Yes he said “luga”. His Arabic was so bad that even the non-Muslims at the table laughed. One time he tried reciting Surah ar-Rahmaan and butchered the beautify of it. But this time… SubhaanAllaah someone asked a question about what is a Fatwa.
He replied:
“A Fahtwah?” “You better watch out for them Skinnywah’s! HA-HA-HA”
A few courtesy laughs. Me and the brothers were struck by such a horrid response that we didnt know whether to laugh at the stupidity of the speaker or get angry at his vile attempt at Da’wah or throw things at him to get him off the stage.
To top the foolishness off, there was one big Indian guy with a slight beard and a comb over indian hair cut that took the mic. His mother introduced him so proudly saying he was going to sing a song about Hijaab.
Then it started. He began to sing. Some brothers couldnt hold it. They ran out of the room screaming in laughter. And the laughter outside could be heard. I held it in biting my tongue so I was more in pain than a humorous feel. I calmly stood and walked away to a secluded area where I laughed and later felt upset at how decrepit the state of the Muslims are, that their da’wah is now laden with bad-jokes from fools who have no knowledge but are heads of knowledge-based institutes and singers and entertainers.
Allaahul Musta’aan.
What’s funny is that guy’s mother later told me that performing those songs in front of people is good because if makes the young people (singing) feel better about themselves.
The guy is at least thirty years old.

That’s just sad. I couldnt hold it in and I had to laugh eventually. It’s actually quite sad. So singing makes one feel better about themselves, why not read Qur’aan? Where you’ll actually get rewards!
